This portrait was inspired by a photograph of James Baldwin, one of the most powerful voices of the twentieth century. Baldwin dedicated his life to telling the truth about race, identity, love, and the human condition.
I was drawn to the honesty in his expression and the courage he carried throughout his work. This painting is my tribute to a man whose words continue to challenge us to think deeper, live more truthfully, and see one another with greater compassion.
