King Basquiat explores legacy, pressure, and creative authority. The floating crown represents earned power rather than ego, while the bold green palette speaks to growth, value, and renewal. The gaze is direct and intentional, honoring Jean Michel Basquiat’s influence while asserting that his spirit lives on through artists who continue to claim their voice.

After staring at this painting days after I finished it. I realized that all of the colors I used in this painting reminded me of a coogi sweater. Like the one Biggie would wear; Biggie and Tupac had a beef in the 90s that lead to both of their demise. This is a reminder from Pac to teach us to forgive. Forgive for yourself.

A portrait of Diana Ross from the film Mahogany, painted in lush color and expressive layers. Her lifted gaze and wide brim hat celebrate beauty, ambition, and a woman stepping boldly into her destiny.
This piece is inspired in part by my favorite Diana Ross song Upside Down.
